We cordially invite you to join us for the Biointerfaces International Conference (BIC) 2022 in September at ETH Zurich, Switzerland.

This year BIC offers a program with a special focus on microphysiological systems, de novo tissues and organoids.

Such next-generation cell cultures are designed to replicate the physiological complexity of human tissues and organs. “Organ-on-a-chip” technologies combine different human tissues representing organs under physiological conditions such as flow, mechanical or electrical stimuli.

These advanced in vitro systems help understanding human physiology and will pave the way for research and development of novel pharmaceuticals or biomedical materials and devices and at the same time surpass the limited predictivity of animal models. Hear about exciting science and technologies across different fields and disciplines in the Biointerfaces community, from Swiss and international research teams in academia, hospitals and industry.

Biological surfaces and interfaces: where synthetic materials and biological systems interact with and engage each other - one of the most innovative and expanding areas of science and technology.

Biointerfaces International Zurich 2022 Conference aims to build bridges across relevant application areas, between science & engineering, innovation & technology, industry and academic partners and between senior scientists & early-career researchers. Internationally highly renowned scientists from academia, industry and clinics present their latest, often unpublished scientific findings and technological breakthroughs to a diverse audience.

Learn how various research and translational initiatives around biological surfaces & interfaces continue to shape our everyday lives. The growing understanding for instance of how to physically interface biomaterials with various cell types hold great technological and societal promise, with applications in fields including tissue engineering, drug development and human toxicology. These technologies have a great potential, but require further research, continued innovation and discussion in our society as clinical validation and translational maturity.

Biointerfaces International Zurich 2022 Conference will address status and future directions in these fields, also related to personalized medicine, and will also highlight the importance of involving all stakeholders.
